One of the first things that comes to mind when I hear Adam’s name, is sales funnels. I’ve known Adam for a few years now and have even had the chance to peek behind the scenes and can say the guy knows his stuff and is one of few ‘marketers’ who spend an equal, if not greater, amount of time... in the trenches and testing to see what’s working right now.
This doesn’t mean you only sell one product. This means you build out a brand by selling varying yet adjacent products. Over time, your consumer network might consider you a go-to for which type of vacuum they should buy. Additionally, some industries pay more than others. Especially if the product is a harder sell, affiliates may get a higher cut than they would for a product in higher demand.
Our final piece of advice would be, if you have an established service yourself, to set up an affiliate programme. Promote as you wish, but this will honestly get the word out about your business and maximise sales. Take your learning from promoting others and apply it to your business. The more people you have out there shouting about how great your services are, the more traffic, enquires and sales you will achieve. It’s just basic mathematics!
First off, thank you so much for this insightful blog post, it's exactly what I needed. But, my software vendor's affiliate program has a funnel of their own, requiring the prospect to sign up with their email address. Is it appropriate for me to collect the prospects email in the Opt-in page, and then expect the prospect to submit their email a second time in order to signup for the product free seven day trial? If appropriate, do you have any advice for how that should be structured?
Thanks for a nice job. I am currently promoting some of the affiliate programs listed here and making a few dollars from them. But I must say that making money from affiliate programs is not rocket science; it requires hard work and perseverance. Affiliate marketing keeps evolving daily and any serious affiliate should be ready to change tactics and invest time and money in order to beat the competition.
